Kyrgyzstan is a mountainous country in the very heart of Central Asia: more than ninety per cent of its territory is covered by the Tian Shan and the Pamirs. The main routes are Bishkek — Osh across the Too-Ashuu pass and the southern Osh — Irkeshtam road to the Chinese border; the northern highway connects the country with Kazakhstan and onwards to Europe.
